Markus Kötter mentions that the difference between conversational repair in spoken interactions and in the MOO-based exchanges. People would like to use code-switching to express their L2 when they are negotiate with each other. Every students use the target language as much as possible violates the tandem principles of reciprocity because it reduces the chance that the learners receive much authentic input in their L2 from their partners.
Peer’s reflection
They pointed out that when they are young, the instructor used to teach them with the pictures and after that using code-switching when they were in senior high school. When I was young, the teacher attempted to use pictures and code-switching to teach me. Pictures seemed to be easy to remember the word because children didn’t have an ability to know every usage. Indeed code-switching is a way to teach the learner but it doesn’t fit for advance students.
When I come across difficulties in SL, I tried to ask my interlocutors who are more proficient in using SL to help me. Indeed most of the interlocutors were willing to help me to solve the problems. If people don’t want to help me, eventually I will gather information from the internet where is a place to collect all of the news. But it wastes time to explore it.
